Medical Terminology Syllabus
Required Text(s): Medical Terminology for Health Professions, 6th edition, by Ann Ehrlich and Carol L. Schroeder.
Teaching Methods: Chapter reading and learning exercise assignments are to be completed before class. Class time will be devoted to discussing content, presenting enrichment materials, answering student questions, and additional activities.
Quizzes and Examinations:
Chapter Quizzes: There will be a 25- or 50-question quiz at the conclusion of each chapter.
Word Part Review Test:There will be a review test at the end of chapter 2, covering all of the word parts from Chapters 1 and 2. Due to the importance of students knowledge at this point in the class, failure to receive at least 75% correct on this test would jeopardize the students ability to perform at the necessary level through the remaining chapters of the text in order to pass the semester.
Semester Final: Semester final will cover all of the chapters covered by conclusion of the 2nd grading period. Counts as 1/3 of the total score for the final grade (1st semester).
Final Examination: This test covers all course contents. Counts as 1/3 of the total score for the final grade(2nd semester)
Grading:
90 - 100 A
80 - 89 B
70 - 79 C
60 - 69 D
Below 60 F
